From Ethel’s travel diary:
Zurich: June 29 – July 1, 1964
Got into Zurich 10 o’clock – called Gerde – then hotel – no
room – transferred to another. Very
business-like and cold. In the middle of
the best shops in town. Stayed the
night. Next day checked into The Bristol
– nicer and cheaper.
Switzerland is delightful – clean, organized, confident,
efficient – everyone seems comfortable.
I described it as being “antiseptic.”
Had
very interesting day. Took cable car up
Mt. walked around University of Zurich.
Then another cable car – way up in the mts. Beautiful homes and hotels – Zurich is a
prosperous town. No one seems poor. Everything clean and in order.
