Trevi Fountain, Rome -
July 1964
From Ethel’s travel diary:
We are approaching Rome.
Have gone through mountains, small towns and large carriages drawn by
oxen, women carrying sacks and pails on their heads. Ride through mountains and auto strata.
Rome very large city – like NY filled with beautiful stores
and in each piazza is a statue or a Basilica, all very beautiful and very old –
some built in the eleventh and twelfth centuries.
Threw a coin in the Trevi Fountain (completed 1562).
