Lillian Smith & Ethel Selmonsky
Left to right: Lillian Smith & Ethel Selmonsky -
Prospect Park - 1928
An entry from Ethel's travel diary:
Date: June 19, 1964
Place: Nice
Left
Nice and headed east – stopped at Monaco and walked up the high mountain
(seemed like miles up) and finally came to the castle of the Grimaldi
Family. The Prince and Princess were not
at home. We walked around. The town is set in the promontory. It is quite a place to live (very beautiful
and they don’t pay taxes !)
Abitato
– looked like a deserted village – women in native costumes were about, Very strong local color. Bill would love to film it, I think.
A man
riding a bicycle singing in a loud but beautiful Italian tenor.
