A story from Peter and Chuck:
Peter: Sid liked to cook so he opened a luncheonette in East
NY – east of Grand Army Plaza. He was
already over 60 and not very robust, so it failed in two weeks.
Mitzi scolded him about wasting their savings. They separated and Sid left for California
shortly after that.
Chuck: I remember the luncheonette - we visited when it opened and I could order whatever I wanted for free. Maybe that's why it went broke!
I also remember it being in an integrated neighborhood - it was one of my first experiences with African Americans.
