When I was wrapping up graduate school, Sue and I went to California for a visit, which included a trip to Palm Springs to see the Gordon family. 

 

When it was time for lunch at Ronnie's home, she beckoned me to come sit with her, saying: "Come sit next to me.  The last time I saw you, you weren't quite a person yet."
