Susan Stern & Fannie Schlein Stern
Susan Stern and her paternal grandmother Fannie Schlein Stern
A story from Harvey Stern:
Grandma Fannie came to the United States at such a young age that she spoke English without an accent.
More info from Neilan Stern:
Fannie was born on or about January 1, 1878. She arrived in the U.S. in 1892 at the age of 14.
And a story from Fran Gordon:
I am named after Fannie. I was supposed to be Jane, probably after Fannie's husband, Jacob Stern - my grandfather. But Fannie died when my mom was pregnant with me. I do not know the circumstances, but mom was with her continuously. The one day she decided to go out, Fannie passed away and it was heartbreaking. Unfortunately, neither Chuck nor I ever knew any of our grandparents, which was a great loss for us.
