Susan Lehrer's College Graduation - 1956

 

Susan Lehrer graduated from Hunter College in 1956.  She was a fine arts major during the height of the Abstract Expressionism movement.  

She was proud that three of her professors had pieces in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's permanent collection.  They were: Robert Motherwell, William Baziotes and Dong Kingman.

She also said that Dong could not speak any English.  So when you asked him a question he would demonstrate the answer.  And then he would take every scrap of paper he used with him!
