Susan Stern Lehrer: 1992 – Bath, England

 

A story from PJ:

 

In 1992, Edward and I went with Sue on a trip to the UK.

We stayed in London and did day trips to Bath, Brighton, Dover, Stonehenge and the Cotswold’s.

One evening Edward and I went out for dinner but Sue was tired so we said we would bring her back some food. 

But oddly enough, “to go” hadn’t yet arrived in the UK.  Still the restaurant was game and cobbled together a large aluminum cooking pan of pasta which we brought back to the hotel for her.

Britain has of course mastered take-out since then, although I believe that it’s referred to as “take away.”
