Alter Stern and family
Alter Mordechai Stern was born about 1876 in Radomysl Wielki,
Austria.
Around 1901, he married Bracha Brand.
In 1902, Shlomo Eliezer (Stern) Grinbom, their oldest son was
born.
In 1906, they had a daughter named Sala.
In 1908, they had a daughter named Hindi.
In 1912, they had a son named Joseph.
In 1919, they had a son named Rafael.
The family had moved from Austria to Poland, and he was born
in Przemysl, Poland.
Przemysl in southeastern Poland - founded in the 8th
century - was strategically located on central European trade routes, so in
addition to Poland - Hungry, Austria, and Ukraine have all laid claim to it
over the centuries.

In 1920, Alter and Bracha had their last child – a boy named
Menachem.
On September 11th -13th, 1939, during
the invasion of Poland, which marked the start of World War II, the Battle of
Przemysl took place.
Alter, Bracha, Hinde and Joseph all died in the concentration
camp in Majdanek, Poland.
Sala survived the camp and died in Israel in 2008.
Shlomo and Rafael also survived the war. Shlomo died in Israel in 1976 and Rafael died
in Russia in 1989.
