A story from PJ:

Barry said that one time he and his buddies managed to miss the departure of their aircraft carrier.  They hopped in a rental car and drove at top speed to the next port and were able to catch up with the ship there thus avoiding court marshal.

Despite what appeared to be a less than stellar stint in the navy, he still managed to earn a few medals.  Perhaps they were “participation trophies.”
