A story from PJ…

When I finished graduate school in 1981, I went out to L.A. to look for a job. 

The morning after I arrived at Luke’s, I awoke to find the bed shaking.  I thought – “If Gramps wants me to wake up, why doesn’t he just call my name instead of shaking the bed?”  

Then I rolled over and realized that I was alone in the room and I was experiencing my first earthquake. 

Not a very auspicious beginning.  

Less than a year later, I moved back to New York.
