A story from Bette Jaker Barr:
When Bill attended UNC-Chapel Hill for graduate school, he was in the new RTVMP department (radio/TV/motion pictures). After he got his MA, he went to Italy on a Fulbright Scholarship to continue studying cinematography.
While he was there, he had a part time job dubbing Italian spaghetti westerns in English!
After a year at the school, they had a parting of the ways, but Bill stayed in Italy for two more years. He only came home when the Army told him to come back or he would be activated. That got him home and he never went back to Italy.
He also never served
in the Army, although he was in the Reserves.
