A story from Fran Gordon & PJ Lehrer:
Fran: In the 1950’s and 1960’s, Anne had an apartment in
Manhattan, located around Lexington Avenue & 34th Street.
It was a beautiful apartment in a doorman building, with a
sunken living room and a clear view of the Empire State Building from the large
terrace. If you leaned over, you could
see both the Hudson and East Rivers. I
stayed over many times
PJ: Sue said that the apartment cost a fortune. It seems likely however that Anne rented as
few co-ops existed in those days.
