A story from Neilan:

 

Like Lou Haber, my dad Ben Stern was part of the Lost Battalion in World War I.  He was a Sargeant in Company C, 305 Inf. Reg.

 

Unlike Lou, Ben was badly wounded in battle - shot in the leg by a machine gun in the Argonne Forest on October 4, 1918.
