A story from Sarah…

 

Due to financial circumstances, Joe had to leave school at age 15 and begin working to help support the family.

However, he was highly intelligent and continued to learn many things from reading books.  He did so well on his IQ tests when he entered the Army, that they made him a Second Lieutenant.

When I was born deaf, he was motivated to go back to school because he wanted to help parents cope with and educate their disabled children. At the age of 60, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Auditory Science in just 2 1/2 years – earning straight A’s.
