Vivienne Jacobs - 1944
Vivienne Jacobs - 1944
Two stories from Ethel Selmonsky Jaker’s diaries…
1964 (With Doris Selmonsky Stern and Louis Stern)
We left Idlewild airport on June 6 (Doris’s birthday) via “KLM.” I had
a difficult trip, but that was my fault (I am a horrible sailor.) Doris &
Luke were fine.
We arrived in Amsterdam at 7:15 am., and walked around station (It was raining) until it was time to take off for London.
When
we got off the plane in London, we looked quizzically at a group of people
until they said “Ethel?” And I said yes.
We embraced. It was Vivienne,
Bernard, Stephen & Helena and Sophie & Doris.
1973 (With Irv Jaker, Miriam Seff Selmonsky and Joe Selmonsky)
It was Joe’s first trip, and he took it very well. I’m glad we went together!
Vivienne
met us at Heathrow airport. Miriam
thought she looked like Louise. I don’t
think so! But Joe said “She’s a Selmonsky for sure!” – and that she is!!
