When he was selling tools, Sid had a vice that he used as a loss lead item, only he never sold it.

He would scout the garage and if he saw it already had a vice, he would tell the owner that he had a great deal and would name a ridiculously low price, to show that he had great bargains.

One day he pulled that trick and the owner said: “Is that all?” He then said that while he already had a vice, at that price he could not turn down the offer. So, he bought it. That meant that Sid had to drive back to L.A. to get a new vice. He did so, cursing the entire way about the “SOB who bought the vice.”
