Doris Stern
Doris Selmonsky Stern
A story from Peter:
My dad, Luke Stern was a Boy Scout leader.
One night, his troop planned a secret "This Is Your Life" night.
My mom, Doris, was invited of course. But to keep the surprise, she told him that she was going to visit a friend who had moved to New Jersey that night. Meanwhile, I was a Cub Scout at the time, but often went to Boy Scout meetings, so my excuse for not attending was that I had a cold.
After Luke left, we drove to the meeting and hid backstage awaiting the appropriate moment to make our appearance. Unfortunately, before that could happen, someone came into the meeting and said: "Luke, your car is in the parking lots with its lights still on." To which he replied: "That's impossible. My car is in New Jersey."
