A story about Sid from Peter...

After he moved to California, Sid sold tools from the back of his Ranchero'.

One time he was in Texas at a station and garage that saw a lot of ranchers.  After he made a few sales, a man who looked like a cowboy came to him and said: "I heard you have some good deals on tools.  I might be interested in getting some."

Sid took him to his display and the man created a shopping list: "I'll take this, two of those, five of those, etc.," never asking the price.  After he finished his shopping list he asked Sid to make a bill while he started loading the tools in his truck.

The bill came to over $5,000.

He started to pay when he realized he didn't have his checkbook.  He went to another guy and said: "Joe, could you give me one of your checks?"  He then crossed out the bank and account info and put his own bank and account information in by hand.

The guy then handed the check to Sid and left.  Sid went to the garage owner and asked where the bank was and was told it was 150 miles away.

Sid then asked if the guy could be trusted and the owner said he had never seen him before, at which time Sid's heart dropped.

After a brief period the owner said: "I was just kidding.  Don't worry!  That guy owns more than half the county."
