Susan Stern Lehrer - 1959
A story from PJ Lehrer...
This is a photo of my mom when she was pregnant with me.
My given name is Pamela Jane Lehrer - Pamela for Pauline Selmonsky and Jane for Jacob Stern.
When I was born in early 1960, the tradition was to gift new moms with a baby nurse for the first two weeks after they left the hospital. This gave them a chance to recover from the delivery and some help learning how to take care of a baby from an expert.
My baby nurse was of German descent.
She called me Pom-o-la with an emphasis on the pom. Sue hated it. She said she lasted three days before saying: "Call her P.J."
